The hayek/polanyi post really put my writing on the map. I like to say the Polanyi brothers (Karl and Michael) are my favourite Austrian economists for a few fun reasons: - they're never associated with the school but - Austrian econ is a dead end so might as well shake things up - the Polanyi's did grow up in Austria-Hungary - Karl won the Socialist Calculation debate (Mises even agreed with his points, but argued Polanyi wasn't advocating for Socialism but Syndicalism) - Michael had a deep impact on Hayek and was an early member of Mont Pelerin (though he'd later rage quit)
