The visualization of tsunami after the 9.1 Japan earthquake in 2011 shows how fast it moves. Hits North American shore in 8-10 hours and crosses most of the Pacific Ocean within 24 hours.
Anyone have resources, or links, for real time readings of tidal swings or tsunami size at Midway Atoll, or anywhere else mid-Pacific before Hawaii?
At first Japan was forecast to get up to 3m waves (300 cm) and the reported readings were ~30 cm, so 1/10th the forecast.
Looking for more data as the wave moves across the Pacific, anything would be appreciated.
